Workers' Day

The formidable struggle of South African workers is commemorated on May 1st every year. Workers' Day, celebrated globally as International Workers' Day, honors the achievements of workers and celebrates their contributions to the country's economic and social development.

In 2026, Workers' Day falls on a Saturday, but many businesses will observe it on Friday, May 1st. This could provide an opportunity for participants to engage in parades, rallies, and other festivities without disrupting the workweek.

National Women's Day

Honoring the more than 20,000 women who marched to the Union Buildings in 1956, National Women's Day signifies the power and resilience of South African women. In 2026, this empowering celebration will take place on August 9th. Women across the country will take a stand and celebrate their heritage.

This public holiday often coincides with other women-focused events and campaigns, creating an opportunity for businesses and individuals to contribute to women's empowerment initiatives.
